International protection in the Republic of Slovenia applies to refugee status and subsidiary protection status.

The Slovenian Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants (the Office) is the competent authority in charge of ensuring the rights and implementing integration measures for persons who have been granted international protection. It provides accommodation in its integration houses and other accommodation facilities or gives financial allowance for private accommodation to those persons granted international protection who have signed the Integration Agreement. A decision on granting refugee status shall be considered a permanent residence permit, while a decision granting subsidiary protection status shall be treated as a temporary residence permit.

Based on your active engagement, integration process shall aim to achieve a level of independence that will enable you to fully integrate into life and work in the Republic of Slovenia.

The Integration Division of the Slovenian Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants represents the competent authority in charge of integration assistance. Once you have been granted the status, you will be invited for an interview and given all the necessary information in order to get integrated into your new social environment as quickly as possible. If you sign the Integration Agreement, you shall also be assigned an integration advisor, who you will be working with and planning activities aimed at facilitating your successful integration.
