A family member of a foreigner who holds a residence permit for the purpose of carrying out research work<\/u><\/a>, the residence permit being first issued by another EU Member State, and who has resided in that Member State with the researcher, shall be entitled to obtain a residence permit in the Republic of Slovenia as a family member of a researcher who is subject to a long-term relocation<\/strong><\/a> in the Republic of Slovenia. Upon entering Slovenia, your family member shall be allowed to live with you for the period of 30 days on the basis of a permit already issued by another EU country (as a family member of a researcher), but before the expiration of that time period, you are required to lodge an application for a residence permit for your family member with the competent authority in Slovenia (administrative unit). The application for your family member may be submitted at the same time as your own application. A foreigner shall comply with general requirements<\/u><\/a> and present a residence permit for a family member of the researcher, whereby such permit was issued by another EU country and shall be valid at the time of deciding on the application.<\/p>\n

In the event of a short-term relocation<\/strong><\/a>, your family member is entitled to obtain a residence permit under the condition that he\/she meets the following requirements<\/u><\/a>: the competent authority in the Republic of Slovenia has been notified (in writing) of the family member’s intended stay in the Republic of Slovenia; the family member\u2019s residence permit, which was first issued by another EU country, is valid for the period of the intended stay; you have presented a proof that the family member has been living with the foreigner in the EU country that first issued the residence permit for the purpose of performing research activities.<\/p>\n

A family member of a researcher who is subject to a short- or long-term relocation in Slovenia and whose residence permit was first issued by an EU Member State that does not fully apply the Schengen acquis<\/strong> shall, upon entering the Republic of Slovenia, also present a valid travel document<\/u><\/a> and a valid family member\u2019s residence permit which was first issued by another EU Member State that does not fully apply the Schengen acquis. In the case of a short-term relocation<\/strong>, a copy of the relocation notice shall also be enclosed (by the parent who is subject to the short-term relocation). In the event of a long-term relocation<\/strong>, evidence that a family member is accompanying the researcher or will be joining the researcher shall be provided.<\/p>\n

Applications for a residence permit for a family member and for a foreigner intending to carry out research activities within the framework of a relocation may be processed simultaneously by the competent authority in the Republic of Slovenia (the administrative unit), provided that both applications are submitted at the same time. When an application has been lodged, the competent authority shall issue a certificate of the submitted application, which serves as a residence permit until the final decision on the application is taken. A temporary residence permit for a family member shall be issued for the same period of time as the residence permit issued for the purpose of the research work performed by a foreign researcher in the Republic of Slovenia.<\/p>\n<\/div>
