If you do seasonal work for more than 90 days, you may obtain a single permit for residence and seasonal work.

In addition to evidence of compliance with other conditions you must also submit a valid employment contract or contract of work.

You may extend the permit with the same or another employer or contracting authority, but the total duration must not exceed six months or seven months in exceptional cases.

On 29 May 2020, the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia adopted the Act on Intervention Measures for Mitigation and Elimination of the Consequences of the COVID-19 Epidemic (ZIUOOPE) (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 80/2020), which entered into force on 31 May 2020.

In accordance with Article 43 of the ZIUOOPE the issuance of permits for seasonal work on the basis of the Employment, Self-Employment and Work of Foreigners Act (Official Gazette of the RS, No. 1/18 – officially consolidated text and 31/18) and a single permit for seasonal work on the basis of the Foreigners Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 1/18 – officially consolidated text, 9/18 – amended and 62/19 – US decision) is changed for the rest of 2020 in the following way:

  • seasonal work for a maximum of 150 days is performed on the basis of a seasonal work permit issued in accordance with the Employment, Self-Employment and Work of Foreigners Act,
  • for seasonal work longer than 150 days it is necessary to obtain a single permit for seasonal work in accordance with Article 45.a of the Foreigners Act.
