The basic form of health insurance is compulsory for all persons in the Republic of Slovenia. Compulsory health insurance covers only the costs of basic health care and does not cover all costs incurred during treatment.

Total cost coverage is provided only to children, pupils and students who regularly attend school, as well as for certain diseases and conditions, while for other services compulsory insurance covers only a certain percentage of the cost of the service.

Compulsory health insurance in the Republic of Slovenia is regulated by the Health Insurance Institute of the Republic of Slovenia, which you can also contact if you need additional information.
