If your residence is in the interest of the country, you may be issued a temporary residence permit, but not for more than five years.

A state authority or the ministry that has an interest in your stay in Slovenia must submit to the Government of the Republic of Slovenia a proposal stating the interest, your consent to initiate the procedure, evidence of sufficient means of subsistence for the entire period of validity of the permit, and adequate health insurance. On the basis of the proposal, the Government issues a decision to issue a permit, which is then issued by the Ministry of the Interior. Prior to issuing the permit, the Ministry also checks possible security concerns.
