Primary and secondary school students who go to school in the Republic of Slovenia are eligible for school meal subsidies (only primary school students are eligible for dinner subsidy while both primary and secondary school students are eligible for lunch subsidy). The eligibility is not tied to citizenship of the Republic of Slovenia. A foreigner may also be eligible for school meal subsidies if he or she goes to school in Slovenia and is registered for lunch or dinner and meets the other statutory conditions.

In the majority of cases, parents do not need to submit applications for school meal subsidies since schools take into account the data from decisions on child support or state scholarship. An application has to be submitted only if you do not have a valid decision on child support or state scholarship. You still need to register for lunch.
