The school system in the Republic of Slovenia consists of pre-school education and primary, secondary and tertiary education.

Citizens of other EU member states, Slovenians without Slovenian citizenship and refugees are entitled to education under the same conditions as Slovenian citizens, while other foreign nationals are entitled based on the principle of reciprocity.

If you or your family members want to take part in education or perform a job for which you are qualified, you can submit your education certificates in the assessment and recognition of education procedure.

There are a number of adult education programmes as well as a very well-established University of the Third Age, which is aimed at older adults.

Public education is secular and autonomous! Political or confessional activity is not allowed in public school!
